MUMBAI: We have already seen Xiaomi smartphones, Mi Mix 2, Mi 5 and Mi Max 2 supporting Quick Charging 3.0 tech. But the firm was only selling its standard 5V-2A charger in India. Now, Xiaomi has launched a Qualcomm certified Quick Charging 3.0 supporting adapter in the country. The announcement came from the firm's EMUI forum post.
The 'newly designed' 380V adapter is said to have an automatic temperature control function. It is kept below 30-degree while it is being used, preventing overheating. Xiaomi says that the new 9V 2A adapter for now supports only three smartphones- Mi Max 2, Mi 5 and Mi MIX 2.
"We're delighted to announce that Qualcomm certified Quick Charge 3.0 charger will be now available on mi.com. This new charger can withstand voltage surges up to 380V and is compatible with Mi MIX 2, Mi Max 2, and Mi 5. Now forget about long waiting hours to charge your smartphone. Juice up your smartphone in no time!" said the MIUI forum.
The accessory is available on Xiaomi's Mi.com website for Rs 499.
Refreshing the battery specifications of the three supported smartphones, the Xiaomi Mi Max 2 is backed by a 5300mAh battery and is rated to deliver up to 57 talktime hours on a single charge. The more recently launched Mi MIX 2packs a 3400mAh battery, while Xiaomi Mi 5 comes with 3000mAh battery.
Although the aforementioned accessory is supported by three handsets, Xiaomi is trying hard to bring similar features in other handsets as well. With Android Oreo roll out, the firm brought fast charging ability to its first Android One smartphone, the Mi A1 . The smartphone is priced at Rs 13,999 and is backed by a 3080mAh battery. Some other features included are 5.5-inch full HD (1080x1920 pixels), octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor, 4GB RAM, 64GB, 12MP rear camera and 5MP front-facing camera.
