Don't fall for this OnePlus' likely April Fool's Day joke
MUMBAI: Chinese smartphone maker OnePlus is known for its April Fool’s Day pranks and this year also the company has a weird trick for its customers.
After giving a glimpse of its yet-to-be-launched flagship smartphone -- OnePlus 6, the company co-founder Carl Pei announced that they will soon come with their own cryptocurrency. The company has tweeted a video from its official handle with a caption “It's not a coin toss. It's a better way.”
In the video, Pei talks about the currency and then the video shows a coin with the print of OnePlus logo. However, it is not clear that whether the company is working on something like this or it's just an early April Fool’s Day prank.
Last year also OnePlus played an interesting April Fool’s Day prank. The company unveiled a drink called Dash Energy which claims to give a day’s power to the humans. As part of the prank, the company sold the drink at its offline stores.
OnePlus is all geared up for the launch of its next-generation flagship smartphone -- OnePlus 6. The company has recently shared an official image of the upcoming smartphone with The Verge. The image shared confirms that the smartphone will come with an iPhone X-Like screen notch.
The company’s co-founder Carl Pei told Verge, that the notch on the OnePlus 6 will be narrower than that of the iPhone X as it doesn’t include the same set of sensors. As confirmed earlier, the OnePlus 6 will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor.
It is expected that the smartphone might run Android 8.0 Oreo operating system and sport a dual rear camera setup placed vertically just like the one found in iPhone X.
